How does acupuncture help with neuropathy?
How does acupuncture help with neuropathy?
Acupuncture for neuropathy is a very common approach to help relieve the symptoms. If you suffer from symptoms of neuropathy, you know that the pain and numbness you experience can be nearly intolerable. Even stepping on hard or cold surfaces such as a tile floor, can feel like walking on sharp broken glass.
Depending which nerves are affected, symptoms differ with each individual. You might feel a mild numbness and tingling sensation in your feet or hands, which spreads into your arms and legs. You might feel sharp pain and be extra sensitive to touch. Muscle weakness and paralysis or bladder problems are other kinds of discomfort my patients describe.
With neuropathy, damaged nerves in the peripheral nervous system cause tingling, burning or even numbness in the hands and feet. For my patients with neuropathy, my goal is to re-stimulate the damaged nerve fibers and prevent them from becoming inactive and dying. That’s where acupuncture can be very effective and help the stimulation of these nerves.
Acupuncture for Neuropathy is excellent at restoring blood flow and stimulating the body’s nerve pathways, which in turn helps with nerve regeneration and and prevents further damage. In case of nerve damage or reduced sensation, I may target my treatment focus in local areas to stimulate the nerve fibers.
Acupuncture is an effective treatment for neuropathy, with fewer side effects than medications. By keeping the nerves active and engaged, I can help with reducing discomfort and improving my patients’ condition.
Treatment options for individual neuropathy cases vary. During your initial appointment at Bern Akupunktur, a personalized plan will be discussed to better ensure the efficacy of your acupuncture treatments.

Naturopathic Practitioner with Advanced Swiss Federal Diploma in TCM
About me
In 2009 I graduated with a Dr. TCM degree from the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Vancouver, Canada. Here in Switzerland, I am a federally certified TCM naturopath.
My journey into the world of TCM and acupuncture began in my teens. As someone who has always played competitive sports – especially soccer – it was always my desire to reduce the recovery time and overall pain of those around me. This led me to realize that in addition to treating specific, physical injuries, there must also be a holistic approach to health and wellness.
In search of a purposeful ways to help people achieve their health goals, acupuncture presented itself. I have been practicing acupuncture and Chinese medicine since 2009, and at Bern Acupuncture I care for people with sports injuries, sciatica pain, migraines, premenstrual symptoms, menopausal symptoms, burnout, anxiety, and insomnia.
I believe in educating my patients. I believe that if they have the knowledge in their hands, they can further the healing process and thus become more in tune with their bodies.
My commitment
I am passionate about providing professional and quality acupuncture treatments to reduce and eliminate pain. My goal is to support and encourage my patients on their journey to recovery and optimal health with the best possible treatment. At Bern Akupunktur, I use a number of different acupuncture treatment methods to address individual needs and health requirements.
